This paper examined the behavioural intentions underlying the use of electronic databases by the \r\nacademic staff of the Federal University, Dutsin-Ma, Katsina, Nigeria. Unified Theory of \r\nAcceptance and Use of Technology (UTAUT) was adopted as a theoretical framework. The study \r\nemploys a quantitative survey approach. The total population of the study comprised 638 academic \r\nstaff across eleven faculties of the University under study. A sample of 135 academic staff was \r\ndrawn to serve as respondents of the study using structured questionnaires. The quantitative data \r\ncollected were analysed using descriptive and inferential statistics. Results of this study revealed \r\nthat performance expectancy had the most substantial impact, indicating that academic staff in the \r\nstudy area are more likely to adopt electronic databases if they believe it enhances job \r\nperformance. Effort expectancy and social influence also significantly influenced behavioural \r\nintention, suggesting that ease of use and peer encouragement by working colleagues and \r\nlibrarians are critical influencers. The results also indicated that facilitating conditions, including \r\ninfrastructure and support systems, were found to affect actual usage behaviour. The study \r\nrecommended that improving the use of electronic databases requires addressing both \r\npsychological and infrastructural barriers. It also recommends targeted interventions such as \r\ndigital literacy workshops, enhanced user support systems, and institutional policies that promote \r\ndatabase integration in academic activities.
